Modeling Exposure-Lag-Response Associations with Penalized Piece-wise Exponential Models

چکیده
We present a novel approach for the flexible modeling of exposurelag-response associations, i.e., time-to-event data where multiple past exposures are cumulatively associated with the hazard after a certain temporal delay. Our method is based on piece-wise exponential models and allows estimation of a wide variety of effects, including potentially smooth and time-varying effects as well as cumulative effects with leads and lags, taking advantage of the advanced inference methods that have recently been developed for generalized additive mixed models.

Comparison of Ordinal Response Modeling Methods like Decision Trees, Ordinal Forest and L1 Penalized Continuation Ratio Regression in High Dimensional Data
Background: Response variables in most medical and health-related research have an ordinal nature. Conventional modeling methods assume predictor variables to be independent, and consider a large number of samples (n) compared to the number of covariates (p). Therefore, it is not possible to use conventional models for high dimensional genetic data in which p > n. The present study compared th...
متن کاملModeling exposure–lag–response associations with distributed lag non-linear models
In biomedical research, a health effect is frequently associated with protracted exposures of varying intensity sustained in the past. The main complexity of modeling and interpreting such phenomena lies in the additional temporal dimension needed to express the association, as the risk depends on both intensity and timing of past exposures. This type of dependency is defined here as exposure-l...

Firstly, the aim of this master’s thesis is to asses the exposure-lag-response relationship of occupational radon exposure and lung cancer mortality, based on data from the German uranium miners cohort (wismut cohort). Secondly, it compares the obtained results to those which Gasparrini (2014) has obtained by investigating the data of the Colorado Plateau Uranium Miners (CPUM cohort). In order ...
متن کاملSemi-Blind Model Adaptation using Piece-wise Energy Decay Curve for Large Reverberant Environments
This work presents semi-blind acoustic model adaptation based on a piece-wise energy decay curve. The dual slope representation of the piece-wise curve accurately captures the early and late reflection decay that helps in precisely modeling the smearing effect caused due to reverberation. The slopes are estimated in a semi-blind fashion, late reflection slope is estimated blindly by finding the...

This paper presents a static analysis of laminated composite doubly-curved shells using refined kinematic models with polynomial and non-polynomial functions recently introduced in the literature. To be specific, Maclaurin, trigonometric, exponential and zig-zag functions are employed. The employed refined models are based on the equivalent single layer theories. A simply supported shell is sub...
